The Worlds Longest River
Where the Rivers Meet : The Nile
A glance insight of where the longest river in the world meets. The Blue and White Niles stemming from Lake Tana in Ethiopia and Lake Victoria in Uganda join together to form the Nile that stretches across Africa into the Mediterranean. Weaving through what would otherwise have been arid desert, the Nile previously seen as a deity before Islam, creates a rich habitation for humans, animals and vegetation.
Seasonal variations in rainfall and river height are challenges that planners and engineers encounter in attempting to solve issues relating to flooding, irrigation and developing clean water and sanitation for growing city inhabitants.
The geographic region of where the Niles converge not only creates a bustling habitation but also shapes town planning, road usage, water and sanitation utilities, power consumption, and other export related activities such as crop yields and commutes into and out of the city.
