The Markezi flyover is one of the busiest in Khartoum. Centered between the Khartoum Market , a major bus station, Africa University and food markets both the flyover and the underside are heavily congested throughout the day. Originally designed to provide a faster link between Africa Road the major road artery linking Mayo and Al – Azheri region to the rest of Khartoum, particularly the airport and the Khartoum Business district.

The road upgrade connection has created an increase in commerce activity and in demand for transport which have sprouted in the form of public transport, shops and stalls around the flyover. Through a site study and first hand glimpse into the current situation Bestgen was able to highlight and provide design solutions to alleviate the growing demand for the region around the flyover
